ABOUT Murray
Honestly, I’m a dynamic and multifaceted graphic designer, I currently hold the position of Senior Graphic Designer at TU Dublin Students' Union and since 2019 my duties encompass a wide array of design tasks across print, digital, and motion graphics. This role uniquely positions me to create engaging designs that resonate with an audience of 28,000 students across five campuses. My work involves not only crafting compelling visuals but also strategising on optimal communication methods in collaboration with the communications executive and event and communication lead.
Beyond my role at TU Dublin, I am the Founder and Lead Creative of Murray L. Aston, a freelance global creative venture that I established in January 2010. This initiative offers world-class creative services in media, design, and strategy to a diverse international clientele, leveraging creativity to drive meaningful change. Simultaneously, I explore the realms of contemporary art under the pseudonym Celteca, where my work challenges traditional art forms and stimulates dialogue on societal themes through innovative visual storytelling.
Previously, I briefly served as a contract Graphic Designer in Dublin in September 2019 and gained valuable experience as an Assistant Video Editor at Screen Scene Post Production from 2004 to 2006. My entrepreneurial spirit flourished during my time as co-founder and COO of Gecko Hostel in Buenos Aires from 2007 to 2009, where I managed all aspects of the hostel's operations, cultivating a diverse international network.
My artistic and professional journey is underpinned by a solid academic foundation, having completed a BA Honors in Design: Visual Communication at Technological University Dublin. This program honed my skills in graphic design, illustration, typography, and digital media, equipping me with a comprehensive understanding of visual communication. This diverse background enriches my approach to design and art, making me a versatile creator adept at navigating and blending different creative landscapes.
